IB German B is a Group 2 subject in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). It explores language acquisition through five prescribed themes: Identities, Experiences, Human ingenuity, Social organization, and Sharing the planet, with a strong focus on developing receptive, productive, and interactive language skills through written and spoken texts relating to German culture and society.
The course is available at Standard Level (SL, 150 teaching hours) and Higher Level (HL, 240 teaching hours), with first assessment in 2018 for the current syllabus.
