IB Chinese B is a Group 2: Language Acquisition subject in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). It explores five prescribed themes: Identities, Experiences, Human ingenuity, Social organization, and Sharing the planet, with a strong focus on developing communicative competence across receptive, productive, and interactive language skills while fostering intercultural understanding.
The course is available at Standard Level (SL, 150 teaching hours) and Higher Level (HL, 240 teaching hours), with first assessment in 2020.
